Whether as a hangover cure, a brunch cocktail, or good with the game, the Bloody Mary is a popular drink. Like the reasons to drink it, the ways it's made are vast.
When it comes to a Bloody Mary, everyone has their own recipe. Some people add "special" ingredients, some garnish it with string cheese, but everyone knows what they like. Below are five recipes from real people who want you to know what makes the best Bloody Mary, in their opinion. Adrian's Bloody MaryIngredients:
Fill a pint a glass with ice. Pour in the vodka and tomato juice and then add spices. Stir together with celery stalk. Adrian says the reason you stir with the celery is because it infuses the drink with the taste of celery, and also soaks up some of the Bloody Mary into the veggie for an extra treat at the end. Boyd's BloodyIngredients:
Pour Worcestershire in the bottom of a pint glass filled with ice. Add the vodka, pickle juice and beer. Shake in celery salt, add Tabasco and horseradish. Pour in tomato juice. Add salt and pepper and squeezed lemon juice. Garnish with olives, pickles, mushrooms, asparagus, Brussel sprouts and a lemon wedge. Fenn's Hot Bloody MaryIngredients:
Combine ingredients into a pint glass. Garnish as you wish. Fenn says, "I hate horseradish, and this recipe does not need it." Dani's Breakfast BloodyIngredients:
Fill a pint glass with ice and shake in Worcestershire, celery salt and Tabasco. Add vodka, pickle juice and tomato juice. Pour mix into another pint glass and back again. Repeat. Garnish with a pickle and 2 olives. Kristy's Bloody BuddyIngredients:
Mix vodka, Tabasco, A-1, pickle juice and tomato juice together in a shaker. Strain over ice in a pint glass. Shake celery salt 3 times over the top. Garnish with 3 olives, 2 mushrooms and a pickle. Kristy says, to finish it off, insert a straw, throw a lemon on the side and "Tada!" One of the most popular things about the Bloody Mary is that although the essential ingredients remain the same, things can be added and taken away to meet the makers tastes. The key is to find what's best for you and make it work. Spicy or mild, the possibilities are endless.
