You don't have to melt chocolate and cream every time you want hot chocolate. Any one of these dry mixes can be stored for months, for instant cocoa.

The weather is getting warmer, but still cool enough for a rich cup of hot chocolate. But it might be a bit warm to start melting chocolate to make a cup of cocoa from scratch. So you can compromise by using a custom dry mix for your hot chocolate. It's fast, easy and won't heat up your whole kitchen.

Most of these recipes will make a lot of mix, so you will need to store the extra in an air-tight container. The quantities of mix and water will vary between recipes.

Hot Chocolate Mix 1

Combine ingredients. Use 1/3 cup of mix to 1 cup hot water.

Hot Chocolate Mix 2

Combine ingredients, and use 1/3 cup of dry mix to make 1 cup of hot chocolate.

Hot Chocolate Mix 3

Combine, and use ¼ cup of mix in ¾ cup of hot water to prepare.

Hot Chocolate Mix 4

  • 2 cups dry milk
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup coffee creamer powder
  • Any of these mixes can be spiced up with a teaspoon of ground spices, such as cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon or cardamom.
