How to Make a Blueberry Martini

Mix a Refreshing Cocktail for the Dog Days of Summer

When it comes to entertaining by the pool, take your party to the next level by offering a Blueberry Martini that tastes as cool as it looks. Here's how.

The Shaken Blueberry Martini

You will need:

  • Several Cubes of Ice
  • Martini Shaker
  • 2 Martini Glasses (Plastic of around a Pool)
  • Triple Sec (4 oz)
  • Blueberry Vodka (4 oz)
  • Lemon Lime Soda
  • Blueberry Juice (4 oz)
  • Blueberries

Place the ice cubes, triple sec, blueberry vodka and blueberry juice into your martini shaker. Cap and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Then, strain the cocktail into your martini glasses.

Finish the Shaken Blueberry Martini by adding a dash of lemon lime soda and dropping several blueberries into the drink.

The Stirred Blueberry MartiniYou will need:

  • Several Cubes of Ice
  • Martini Shaker or Glass
  • Long Spoon
  • 2 Martini Glasses (plastic if around a pool)
  • Triple Sec (4 oz)
  • Blueberry Vodka (4 oz)
  • Lemon Lime Soda
  • Blueberry Juice (4 oz)
  • Blueberries

Combine the ice cubes, triple sec, bluberry vodka, blueberry juice, and a dash of lemon lime soda into the martini shaker or glass. Stir for 30 seconds to a minute until the drink is well mixed. Strain into two martini glasses and garnish with a few fresh blueberries.

The Bluberry Lemon Martini

For a citrusy twist on the standard Blueberry Martini, try this varation.

You will need:

  • Ice Cubes
  • Martini Shaker
  • 2 Martini Glasses
  • Limoncello (3 oz)
  • Blueberry Vodka (3 oz)
  • Vanilla Vodka (3 oz)
  • Blueberries

Place the ice cubes, Limoncello, blueberry vodka and vanilla vodka in your martini shaker and shake well for 30 seconds to a minute. Then strain into your martini glasses and garnish with a few fresh blueberries.

The Blueberry Basil Martini

For an elegant twist on the Blueberry Martini, infuse the drink with a little basil. This drink goes exceptionally well with a light fish or foul dinner during the summer.

You will need:

  • Ice Cubes
  • Martini Shaker
  • 2 Martini Glasses
  • Vodka (5 oz)
  • 20 to 30 Blueberries
  • 5 Basil leaves

Combine the ice cubes, vodka, blueberries and basil into your martini shaker and shake vigoroualy for at least a minute. The shaking will cause the blueberries to burst and the basil leaves to release their flavor. Strain into two martini glasses and garnish with some fresh blueberries.

When it comes to making variations on the Blueberry Martini, have some fun experimenting. You can add a few strawberries or raspberries to the recipe to make it a Berry Martini or can even be so decadent as to top the drink with whipped cream. Nutmeg or cinnamon are also nice spices which you can sprinkle on top to wow your guests.

Also, if you are entertaining a large group, consider making the Blueberry Martini, the signature drink of the evening. You can make a large pitcher before the party begins and refill your guests glasses as needed.
