Mint Lassi is so refreshing this traditional northern India drink is quenching America's summer thirsts at poolsides, BBQ's, patio parties, and fiestas.

When the elder residents of Tucson - who originally hailed from northern India - raved about the Saffron Indian Bistro drink menu item, Mint Lassi, other people enjoying the northwest Tucson restaurant quickly learned the Mint Lassi was not only authentically Indian, but also a tasty summer refreshment, winning the hearts of Tucsonan’s frequenting Saffron Indian Bistro.

Mint Lassi is so refreshing, this traditional northern India drink is finding a summer home across America at BBQ’s, on pool patios, in the shade of old oak trees, and anywhere summer fun creates thirsty folks. It's packed with protein, so is a great in-between meal snack for all, whether preschoolers, soccer playing teenagers, or spicy retirees.

Save Money by Making Mint Lassi at Home

Popularity of Mint Lassi is evident with the many recipe variations easily available online at websites such as allrecipes, indianfoodsite, lovenectar, and indiamarks. Making this delight at home is easy and saves money.

On a hot summer day, a Mint Lassi is a cooling indulgence and surprisingly healthy. Sugar or sugar substitutes are unnecessary in a lassi. They are high in protein and low in fat, while maintaining great taste. What’s more to love?

Lynn P's Mint Lassi Recipe Directions

Lynn P's basic favorite version of the Mint Lassi recipe has just six ingredients: lime juice, yogurt, water or milk, crushed ice, chopped mint leaves, and sea salt. Tools needed include a blender or smoothie maker, spatula, measuring cup, cutting board, serrated knife, and two serving glasses.

  • 4 ounces Non-fat or Low-fat Plain Yogurt
  • 4 ounces Unsweetened Soy Milk or other Non-Fat Milk
  • 16 ounces Ice - crushed
  • 4 tablespoons Mint Leaves - washed
  • 1 teaspoon Lime Juice
  • Sea Salt to taste

Chop or tear mint leaves into pea-size pieces. Measure all ingredients into smoothie maker or blender. Smooth or blend for 45 seconds or until mixture is of consistency to taste. Enjoy. At these portion measurements, the recipe makes 4 servings of about 8 ounces each.
